Attempted

To cap off the triathlon year, we raced again in the gorgeous Morro Bay. The training had fallen off due to the normal fall sickness, so didn’t come in super hot. Still it was a gorgeous, sunny (which was the first time in a long while) day and a solid little race.

The swim was the hardest this year as we had a pretty nasty current pushing us to shore, slowing us down significantly. Also, we had looped around once and then joined a posse of sprint swimmers which made the group unfortunately larger than I’d like.  On the second turn around the outer bouy I had to take a 30 second rest to recover, but then was back at it.

After the relatively slow swim, the bike was a breeze.  A little slower than I’d like due to the lack of hours training, it was still a relatively flat smooth course with a lot of passing and not a lot of being passed.

The run was its typical beauty as well.   After a little bit of sand we cruised through some neighborhoods. On the return though we had really soft beach sand all the way back for ~3 miles which makes a super shoe just a normal shoe.   Sandman the triathlon may be dead, but if you’re missing it, try morro bay instead!

Overall super happy with my place, and hoping for a little better training going into next year.
